Food is the fuel that keeps your mind and body working.

Making healthy choices about what you eat and drink is important to your overall health.

There are many ways to improve your nutrition. Some ideas:

  • Get enough water. Drink at least 6 small glasses of water every day.
  • Limit the amount of soda and coffee you drink to reduce sugar and caffeine.
  • Pile on the fruits and vegetables. Getting 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables each day adds important vitamins and minerals to your diet.
  • Choose whole grains. Make sure the breads, cereals, and crackers you buy are made from 100% whole wheat, oats, or other grains.
  • Get your dairy every day. Calcium and other important nutrients are found in dairy products.
  • Limit sugars and sweets. These add up to empty calories.
  • Read the labels. Look for "good" ingredients, such as whole grains. Watch for less healthy ingredients, such as hydrogenated oils, salt and sugar.
  • Eat breakfast. It is the healthy way to fuel your body for a new day.
