Community Voices is an educational program that assists new residents in learning about the community, its organization, government, educational entities and other services. It helps them develop their skills and understanding to live and work productively within the laws, procedures and customs of the area.
The Community Voices program is designed to bring together new immigrant residents and their families with existing community leaders. Coordinated scheduled six-week sessions cover basic information about succeeding in the Midwest including education, housing/tenant rights and responsibilities, business, government and law enforcement, youth activities, health fairs, and social services.
New workers and local community leaders will cultivate healthy relationships with one another, including growing respect, trust, cultural understanding, and ongoing communication.
The program helps new residents become actively involved in and committed to the local community, school and government in ways that best utilize their talents, interests, and abilities.
