Child Care Nurse Consultants (supported by Healthy Child Care Iowa) are Registered Nurses that provide guidance and technical assistance to child care providers, families, and communities regarding the health and safety of children. Consultant activities may range from answering specific questions by telephone to staff education or scheduling on-site consult visits.

• Provide educational sessions for child care professionals
• Clarify health and safety regulations
• Receive telephone or on-site consultation on specific issues
• Link children, families, or staff with local health and community resources
• Conduct an on-site visit of the child care setting to help identify risks
• Help child care providers develop an action plan to correct health safety issues
• Assist in developing health policies
• Receive information on immunization

Additionally, the Nurse Consultant can provide assistance with the Quality Rating System

This is an Empowerment funded program. Through state and federal funding, our Empowerment area supports programs for families in Henry County with children 0-5 years of age. The Empowerment mission is to ensure that every child, beginning at birth, will be healthy and successful.
